Each board/committee has its own requirements and/or bylaws that state the necessary qualifications for its members. City Council elections take place every two years, in November of the even year. Each election there are three council seats up for a vote to serve a four-year term. Every four years, the mayor’s seat is up for a vote. Registered voters in Hillsdale County can apply to be Election Inspectors. Election inspectors are required to obtain necessary training prior to working an election. Certification of election inspectors is valid for a two-year period and needs to be renewed before expiration. Each year on the 3rd weekend in August the Sweet Corn Days Festival is held. The festival offers food, live music, vendors, 5K race, games, and more! The Sweet Corn Days Committee is a group of volunteers that put together this great festival each year. Volunteers are always welcome to join the committee to help generate ideas and offer support running events during the festival. Whether volunteers are interested in being a regular member of the committee or they just want to help out for the day, interested parties should contact the Litchfield City Office at 517-542-2921.
