General Information

Residents and Non-Residents alike will find ample recreation possibilities in and around the City of Litchfield, which is located in the northwest corner of Hillsdale County, at the crossroads of two State Highways, M-99 and M-49.  The beautiful Saint Joseph River flows through the community, offering fishing, canoeing and picturesque views.

Riblet Park

Named after one of Litchfield’s founding members, Samuel Riblet, Riblet Park is home to the Litchfield Veterans Memorial. Riblet Park is located on the corner of Fremont Street and M-99 (Jonesville Street). Engraved bricks for the Veterans Memorial may be purchased at the Litchfield City Office.

Nature Trail

Litchfield’s nature trail is a non-motorized trail. It is part of the North Country Trail, which is a hiking trail spanning over 4,600 miles from New York to North Dakota. Litchfield’s nature trail hosts a campground with picnic tables, fire rings, and sites for tents.

Playgrounds
Children's Park - Purdy Playground

Purdy Playground features equipment specialized for 2-to-5-year-olds and handicapped children. It offers two pavilions and a gazebo. Pavilions can be reserved at the Litchfield City Office or on the Children’s Park Pavilion Rental page. Purdy Playground is just North of Simpson Park.

Simpson Park

Simpson Park is located on the grounds of the Litchfield Community Schools. Along with the playground equipment, there is access to basketball/tennis courts.

Fireman's Park

Fireman’s Park is located on South M-49. It offers a playground with a pavilion, shuffleboard, basketball court, volleyball pit, plus access to the St. Joseph River. The pavilion can be reserved at the Litchfield City Office or on the Pavilion Rental page.
